Rocco Harlow, known on the street as "Sunburn", is 55 and left a small inland farming town after a very public scandal. These days Rocco sells used cars with a smile and a dozen excuses. Friends call them the funniest person in any room, and everyone notices that they refuse to drive under the speed limit. What Rocco wants most is to become the most trusted person in town. What nobody knows: they once testified against their own cousin.
How to use your character
A generated character is a starting point, not a script. Keep the parts that spark an idea and change the rest. The best RP characters have one clear want (the goal), one thing they hide (the secret) and one habit people remember (the quirk). Those three give other players something to discover and play against.
- Name and nickname: most servers want a realistic first and last name. The nickname is what the street calls you; let other players give you a new one.
- Age and origin: shape how your character talks and what they know. A newcomer to the city asks questions a local would never ask.
- Job: a reason to be out in the world and meet people. It does not have to be the role you apply for later.
- Goal and secret: your long-term story. Reveal the secret slowly, or never.
Writing a whitelist backstory
Many serious servers ask for a backstory with your application. Keep it short, three or four paragraphs: who your character was, why they came to the city, what they want now and one flaw. Avoid being the best at everything, a famous criminal or a relative of a well-known character. Staff look for characters that create stories for others.
